NE Corridor project to focus on Trenton-bound track
by The Times
New Jersey Transit has announced additional details about an upcoming project on the Northeast Corridor line that will bring revised train schedules, increasing some travel time and changing where passengers can board and exit trains at several stations.
Beginning May 11, Track 4, the local outbound (to Trenton) track will be taken out of service for several months so Amtrak crews can replace concrete ties between Jersey Avenue and Trenton, affecting weekday and weekend train schedules.
Fewer weekday trains will be scheduled from New York to Trenton during morning reverse peak hours, and fewer Trenton-New York trips will operate during the afternoon reverse peak, according to an NJ Transit new release. The agency advises that with only three tracks available in the work zone, there will be less capacity to minimize delays in case of operational problems.
New timetables will be available on NJ Transit website next week, with printed copies available on trains and in stations shortly thereafter.
