Contacting Railroad Retirement &
Supplemental Sickness Insurance

Hello Everyone,

It has been brought to my attention recently that many of our members do not have the up to date information regarding Railroad Retirement Board and Supplemental Sickness Insurance.

The supplemental sickness benefit has been administered by various companies over the years and it currently being handled by AETNA.

The Railroad Retirement Board has implemented changes as well, they do not allow for direct dialing to the regional offices any longer.

Your call is routed to a representative that will handle your claim ACCORDING TO WHERE YOU LIVE . This is important to remember because the toll free number picks up the area code that you are calling from and directs the call to where they THINK it should go.

This could result in some problems for you, for example :

Employee "A" is a resident of Pennsylvania but he borrows a cell phone from Employee "B" (who has a New York area code)
to make the call -the call gets sent to the wrong district office !

RAILROAD RETIREMENT BOARD 1-877-772-5772

AETNA (Supplemental insurance) 1-800-205-7651

I hope that you find this information to be helpful and I ask that you pass it along to anyone that you think may not have knowledge of it otherwise.

Thank you,
Seán
